Had the rig on autorun last night getting some data on NGC346 in the SMC - just going through the subs and stumbled access something unexpected. Attached is the single 120sec sub, taken with the c14 @2760mm with the L-Ultimate filter. Applied calibration frames/debayer in APP, stretched histogram in PI. Thoughts??

Great image BTW.....Thats interesting ......I would say it could be something like an iridium flare type of reflection rather than a meteor ....mainly because it seems to be showing a high frequency ripple. A meteor moves much faster across the sky and would be less affected by the seeing where as a flare has a slower build up to peak brightness....then again I could be completely out of the ball park and the ripple could just be a processing artifact!!!

Thanks for your thoughts Peter! Hmm interesting. It certainly does look similar to a few other images of iridium flares I found online. It had that distinct ripple appearance even raw /pre-debayered file, that’s not something I’ve seen before with satellite trails but certainly could be a function of the l-ultimate filter or something else.
As mentioned I too think it might be an Iridium Flare, IMHO.

Thanks Leon. Yeah I think you’re most probably right. Interesting for me as I’ve never caught one before Cheers!
