Why don't you tell us a bit about yourself or your equipment? A 10" f/7? Wow the tube must be pretty darn long!

To answer your question Mike - yes I did read about you guys in Greg's article on the SPSP in AS&T - a great article btw - sounds very tempting the SPSP :) I have always read Greg's article's without fail for many years now -
Yes the 10" is a beast - thin metal tube too - but i dont find it a weight problem at all due mostly to a very thin hand made mirror - so pretty light. Just awkward in moving due physical size of course sometimes - but as a planetary scope its probably as good as Tak 6" APO refractor on good nights. (very small secondary obstruction as well - 13% from quick memory?) we have always jokingly referred to it as a poor mans tak 6" apo :)
My friend who made it has his personal 12" f6 - that is a mega beast! - he is/was a Jupiter/planets observer foremost - so hence the long FL's

Will have to take a proper photo of it soon - its not that photogenic - well it looks fairly agricultural to look at to be honest :) but their is nothing agricultural about its performance - its mind boggling on really good nights. very functionary I think is the term?

And heres my first attempt at an afocal moon shot using it, in winter last year at (cropped down in size)
