Well I finally got to processing my recent capture of the Lagoon Nebula.

Like most things lately, I decided to go reasonably deep with my integreation, and the result is nearly 25 hours of exposure across RGBHSO

Image Capture specifics are through the link on Astrobin (https://www.astrobin.com/43ty7c/), and I highly recommend looking at it large. basic processing workflow rocessing below.

Stars:
ABE > LinearFit > ChannelCombination > SPCC > StarX.
Stars manually stretched with HistorgramTransformation

NB:
ABE > LinearFit > StarX > NoiseX > EZ Soft Stretch > ChannelCombination (SHO) > SCNR/Curves to taste.

Stars Recombined with PixelMath

BlurX and mild DarkStructureEnhance

There was also some masking along with the Curves.

I hope you enjoy, I've also got 2 other iterations on the processing for this one that I've also uploaded to Astrobin, i definitely recommend looking at the Starless version.

Thanks for looking, and clear skies!

That's a great image Josh. Deep and detailed, and "tasteful" use of BlurX without obvious oversharpening. Restrained (even pastel?) colour palette. Low noise. Delightful :)

Thanks Richard! I'd been sitting on the processing for this one for a while because i was unsure what kind of palette i wanted to go with. I think there is some room for improvement, it's a little too strong in the yellow/brown. but overall i'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for looking and enjoying!

I love the colour palette you used, Have you tried the Foraxx palette script yet? Paulyman a contributor here developed it

Thanks Nik!

I've got the script and usually give it a go. I've not tried it on my data for this target. and it's not something that has produced a result i really enjoy (yet). In retrospect, i think that my integration times are actually too long for what the script was designed for, at least that my current working theory.

Or i just don't know how to feed it good data. (more likely)

Quite a good looking Lagoon there Josh, nice tight looking stars and you have shown the whole banana shape, nice one.

Thanks Mike!

I like to think of it as a cosmic jelly bean. Now if only i could still get them in a Dulux Paint tin.

Haha, maybe. i think its was an icecream bucket. seems like a lifetime ago when that was taken.

Thank you very much! I'm particularly pleased with how this image has come out, I've got crazy ideas at the moment of making this the first panel of a panorama of that region. Maybe I'll plan something for next year.

Thank you very much. i may end up revisiting the processing on this one as i learn some new techniques, but i'm pretty pleased with how it sits for now.
