Well this little experiment paid off. I perservered to capture this Northern Gem from my backyard in Coffs Harbour.

Click here to see it big on Astrobin. (https://www.astrobin.com/dq38t4/0/)

I'd love to give it another go this season as I had a few equipment issues, and i've decided on a slightly better framing. Plus I really want 3x the OIII data.

Thanks for looking and clear skies!

Geeez...at a max 22deg above the horizon from Coffs, that's mighty impressive Josh :eyepop:

Thanks Mike. I'm just as surprised at this little success as you! It's certainly given me confience in trying for some other Northern Gems.

Unfortunately Andromeda is probably out of the Question. :(

Well done that’s a tough one to catch! And well processed too. Great stuff!

Thanks Dave!

I'd definitely like to give this target another go, but to get any more appreciable increase in image quality, I'd have to be much more ruthless in my culling of frames, and more careful in my acquisition.

It might need a trip to somewhere more north across a new moon for a few nights.

Either way, I'm pretty happy with what i was able to manage with it.

A northerner object for sure but you caught it quite well. A spectacular object.

Greg.
