Am using at present a Skywatcher 2i pro mount with Nikon DSLR cameras. The nemesis of all , polar aligning in Southern Hemispohere ! TriTrue magnetic postiongot it set up but my question would be how does the program do a polar alignment as against a telescope where it seems you take two pics at L and R ascension which the program then uses to plate solve and help then to align one to the pole accurately. There was a post some time ago from a fellow using a canon dslr in which he said he had sharpcap working with his camera. Anyone can help me ?? many thanks. hotrodder19

When I used my Canon mirror less camera, I used SharpCap for polar alignment

As in the prior post. Polar align in sharpcap. Make sure using the latest version of sharpcap.
There's an open source ascom driver for DSLRs. I've used that to connect an old canon 450D to sharpcap. It supposedly works with Nikons.
