First Jupiter

Hi all, had my first full imaging session with the LPI last night.
I still have lots to learn and understand about this planetary imaging caper but last nights effort gave me a lot of encouragement.

250 images each of LRGB were taken with the LPI and LX200R 12" using Envisage and exposures were at 0.33 seconds each.
No barlows were used and magnification is 508x

Basic processing was done in Registax v4 and further final processing with MaximDL.

One thing that I have learnt is that I now have even more admiration for the work of our resident planetary imagers. I now understand the work behind the scenes you gents must do to get such awesome images.

Well Done Ric, we've all started with these humble prized images.
Yes, I agree, hats off to the guys on this forum who put out stunning images--they have put in the hard yards to get the most out of their equipment.

I have a 2x Barlow Matt, but I was holding off using it until I sorted out the focussing first. I still find it a bit tricky. I would enjoy a get-together, there is a lot I need to learn.

Wow if that is your first Ric then you have nothing to fear. Is it just me or is there a very 3d feel to your image. You also have 2 of the moons there.

I always found that using a 6mm EP to centre the planet first helped me to get it close into the f.o.v of the camera.
