Hi all,


Having spent last year borrowing a mono camera, I got obsessed. I gave the camera back in December, and have been saving for a mono kit. Finally I received it about a week and a half ago.

As I have the same camera as I did last year (ASI1600MM), a lot of the data that I took last year (mostly in HaRGB), can be used again. I managed to get 2 targets last night, with M16 as the other.

Quite happy about this image. So much more detail than my previous version last year when I was just learning how to use mono.


I would love some feedback on the image.

I really like the "ripply" look of the nebula, gives it a somewhat 3D appearance with what looks to be almost shadows and highlights. I can't give you much more feedback than that because I only just restarted imaging myself and I have never imaged with a dedicated astro camera! Bet it feels great to finally have your own one now! Nice image mate :thumbsup:

Super happy to have my own camera. Was just lucky enough to have a 4th night in a row being clear. Managed to get 4 hours before 11pm. I think that constitutes a great night, especially when it is *technically* a school night according to my parents (Yr12). Love just adding data to existing Ha.



I love the ripples as well. Sort of like waves interfering with each other on a pond when stones have been thrown in.

Great shot, Lachlan. As Jason said, the ripples / bumps are a stand-out in a well processed image. Your colour choice is restrained and subtle - well done!
