Some of the best imaging conditions in Newcastle for a very long time. Calm, cold, steady, dry and clear. 4945 was well placed.
14 x 5 mins ISO 800, EOS Ra and 10 inch F5.6, hand guided as usual.

That's great Scotty, in fact...probably one of the best hand guided images ever, of this galaxy, taken from suburban Newie :D

Thanks all. What makes the guiding easier is Sharpcaps accurate polar alignment function. Virtually no dec corrections to make and the 1986 vintage Sampson mount has large but gradual periodic error that is easy to correct out as long as it's not breezy. I just sit back and keep the highly magnified guidestar on the virtual reticle. Granted it's not as nice as being able to go inside and leave it but autoguiding wasn't around in those days. But it's light years from the old film days of waiting for the developed film to come back
