View Full Version here: : First go at centaurus A
This pic was taken at F10 unguided using my LX90.Is a stack of 8 1 minute exposures stacked additively in images plus and processed in photoshop. will try longer exposures using a focal reducer next time without the moons influence.

Hi Philip,
Amazing picture, just one minute exposures, and at F-10 I wouldent have thought it could be done, this is not a very bright subject, I always give it as much time as the sky conditions will allow (10 Mins.+) and then stack, this is a very good result for paramaters you allowed, Id stick with the F-10 bit for detail if you can get longer exposures withot trailing, when you go to F-6.3 it will be more difficult to obtain as much detail.
cheers.........Jim

I am surprised it picked up so much in the short exposure, well done. the scale is great, would be good to see this with longer exposures and some guiding and more exposures added in with darks, flats and bias frames and you will have a beautiful image.. Again great image...

Wow! Very sharp for such a dim object with that exposure time. ;)

Excellent result Philip, are you still using your homemade wedge??
Thanks for the interest and comments. I use dslr focus to focus and can take pics for up to 2-2.5 mins unguided and get at least 30% of pics without star trailing which with additive stacking in images plus enables me to capture quite a large number of DSO's with the canon 350D.
regards philip :)
PS yes i am still using my homemade wedge and havent adjusted it in over a year! Its much more solid and vibration free then metal ones.
That is a very nice image Philip, you've captured a lot of detail.
Top stuff

Very impressive for the exposure time! I assume based on the lack of a comment otherwise that your 350D is not modified to remove the filter? In which case it's even more amazing..
Your right in your assumption , the canon is unmodified .
