This one is from a little later, seeing improved. Lots of detail present in both images. Little white ovals and rifts in the belts. Even some detail in the GRS.

Anyway here you go again.

From a visual perspective, I found the dark marking easier to see than the GRS !
Does that feature have a name ?

Thanks Chrissyo and Gaa ian, I have practiced at this a lot and it took a long time to get the results. But finally starting to pay off.

Anyway here is another one in the middle of those first two shots.

Did you do anything differently this time, or was it merely a fact that you finally got some decent seeing?

The seeing lastnight was awesome, very clear. I spent an hour or so looking at Jupiter, trying to convince my eye's to see more detail. The blue barge was standing out very well, the little old GRS looked faint and very bland. Damn I wish it was red again.

Thanks guys for the comments. Mike the seeing was better last night. When I started my focusing routine I immediately could see moments when white ovals and rifts were visible in the NEB. So this helped with final focus. Still I have seen it better this season on two other occassions. Unfortunately I sqaundered those opportunities. The season is now nerly over for me, by 8:30 Jupiter is behind my neighbours tree. So now only have 2 hours of usable viewing each night and that is getting shorter by the day. Still it has been most productive and I am happy with the progress that I made.

Mars is on the agenda for this coming season. When it gets to rise before midnight I will start getting some shots of if. Don't know about neptune or Uranus at this stage, might get some avi's of those two. However I don't have the focal length for them really. Still you never know.

Great shots Paul, I like the 2nd image most. Its a shame its the end of the season for Jupiter with the progress you've been making recently.
