Hi all again,...:hi:
Have been enjoying this long bout of clear skies up here the last week!
Most nights the seeing has been terrible but the skies have been very dark and clear...great for wideangle shots etc but just no good through the scope.
Last night it looked like the jetstream has finally moved away..:D so set up the scope at midnight for some serious imaging..decided to do M20.
Seeing was average but not too bad and was very dark as the moon set lower. Managed to get 6 images before a thick fog came from nowhere to end my night early..:(
Ok image is 6 x 4 min iso 800 with canon 300d and my 6" f/5.6 newt. Was very cold which really helped keep the noise low for only 6 subs. So not bad for 24 min total. Another to revisit on a better night!! Plenty of cold clear winter nights ahead...fingers crossed!!
Cheers Gary....

Hi Gary,
Looks like a nice clear clean shot. Colour is great and stars are pinpoint. Great image for not much work. Would love to see what you get for an hour or two's worth.
Cheers,
Duncan:thumbsup:

Thanks Duncan and Mike for the postive feedback. Yeah I usually like a hour or more if I can get it for one image, exspecially in the colder weather with low noise etc I can do some lite deconvolution which I don`t usually do..a hour or so is enough as I need to rest my eyes for a bit....as I am still hand guiding at the moment..hopefully that will change by the end of the year....:)
cheers...

I don't think it needs any improvement with better seeing!!!! Looks like you nailed it already.

Mate! I think this is superb. And hand-guided to boot!
very very nice, sharp stars, beautiful colors and a huge amount of the blue section of the nebula.
I'm inspired! I'm going to have a go at it tonight myself!
congrats

Yep, that's a keeper!

Ah, I love this time of year. Still, clear nights. Pitch black by 6:30 p.m. Long nights, with 10 hours of shooting time. Very low noise due to very cold cameras. Couldn't be finer. Except for the cold.

yes thats a very nice image, especially given the relatively short exposure

Thanks Guys for the comments, sorry for not getting back sooner due to a nasty flu bug...yeah love the colder months and the winter milky way. But that dew can stay away!!! has been very heavy here lately as well as a lot of fog nearly everynight. Hopefully shall get some allnighters without that fog...
cheers and CS
