A quick test from last night on NGC6188.
This is my first attempt at mono with a new scope, new camera, and first attempt at processing using PixInsight.
Askar 65PHQ + ASI533MM Pro + 3nm SHO filters.
Sii: 28x300s.
Ha: 30x300s.
Oiii: 44x300s.
Dither and drizzle for all filters.
Used the Foraxx Palette Utility script following Polyman Astro's video: How I Improved My Narrowband Workflow in 2023: A Breakdown of My Process - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9x43Kbyd90).
If I had to re-shoot, would look at improving the composition. Even this is a crop of the original image as it had way too much empty/negative space in the upper left corner.
Couple of zoomed parts of the final image also attached.
Impressed by the difference of quality of the mono sensor compared to OSC.

Stunning! Beautiful! The detail you’ve revealed is extraordinary and the colour pallet is very pleasing. For a first image with PI thats even more impressive. An exceptional image well done!

Thank you all. Still a lot to learn about the mono imaging and processing.

Thanks Mike. Looking forward to trying this workflow with other targets to understand better how it works.

Fantastic image - I'm really impressed with the Foraxx palette colours, I'll try that utility myself. My first image with the new AM5 was of the Dragons - 6 x 300 sec in Ha and Oiii - I processed it as an HOO
You have inspired me to get some Sii subs and try the Foraxx palette

Nice first one with the AM5. There is a bit of Sii in this area and worth giving it a try. Looking forward to your updated version.

Thanks Mark, I am planning on trying the script with other DSOs to understand better how it works.

Thanks Mark, I reprocessed the HOO version with the Foraxx utility. It didn't do much with the nebula, but did a great job on the stars. I added the Foraxx stars back into the original nebula image and ended up with a much better image. The next step will be to try the full SHO version through the Foraxx script.

Hey mate,
Glad you are enjoying the script. I love the stars Foraxx produces, I rarely grab RGB data for them anymore. To get the best out of the colours for nebulosity the key is carefully balancing the 3 channels before combining, without the balancing you basically get what looks largely indistinguishable from an HOO image.

Fantastic effort, you are getting great detail from the little 65, makes me realise how crap our seeing is here often in Sydney.

The results from the Foraxx script inspired me to re-process some Dragons data from last year. Attached are the output from my usual workflow and the Foraxx version for comparison. I really like the Foraxx colours (and the stars look way better as well) - thanks Paulyman
