Firstly greetings old friends and new ones. A year or so ago I bought a SA 2i, almost perfect for my needs, and happy with the results. However I do miss the goto, for finding the faint fuzzies my eyes have trouble with nowadays. so just ordered the GTI. I,m savvy with scopes mounts etc in general and have owned some fancy stuff in the pat as some of you may know. But my interests in travel and camping are a priority, that being said, I do find myself in some really nice skies. So portability is crucial, and simplicity is next,

Equipment, Redcat 51, Nikon Z6, 150-600 Sigma with FTZ. and a couple of P900,s for wides. andriod phone and windows 8 lappy/tablet

Software I use ATM SA Console 1.6 and Stellarium, these have served me well with the 2i, reliable and simple which is good because I,m usually half cut by night time ;).

Now to the questions.Given what I have said here, what advice would you give as to the software I should use for the new GTI, there seems to be a plethora of choices and versions. Simplest to me is best. And is there anything else I should consider adding to the mix if it makes things quicker to setup, but remain simple enough for my wife to have a go, as I will keep the 2i as well for the time being for wides with one or both of the P900,s

Any help or feedback would be appreciated.
Shawn

Hi Shawn,

As for your control/software solution I would simply use a ZWO Air Plus. From memory I recall it listing that it supports the Nikon Z6, via its DSLR trigger output with the appropriate Nikon or aftermarket cable. Do check this prior.

There are many wonderfully explanatory videos on youtube on the ZWO Air Plus, some with DSLRs. Check them out. If you're interested and if I get time later I will add one here if I can find the one I'm thinking of.

Best
