View Full Version here: : new jup with new barlow.
got me a new 2 inch 4x barlow (paul rini). tested it last night and its better than what i had! lol
so new barlow, extention, and some new gain settings from asimov and dave p. an i have my best so far.... long way to go tho. my collimation was off a bit and it wasnt focused as well as it could have been.
 Nice effort, Vingy!!
I wonder what's causing that very granular appearance?
How many frames are you stacking in registax?
How hard are you hitting the wavelets?
Keep at it, mate.:) Well done.

Well done Dave, a long way past your previous best. Looking upwards from here on in!
i hit the wavelettes pretty hard matty....
heres another... smaller from a different avi without the extension tube
and a large one with slightly different processing... (not much different)
That looks like some kind of magnetic or electric interference causing those lines:shrug:
Anything nearby your ToUcam which might be generating some kind of electro magnetic field, Dave?
sorry matt... i dont see any lines... have you maximised the image?
Well... that's weird. They disappeared when I maximised the image.
I've never seen that happen before.
It's something...
So, what settings did you use when capturing?
toucam/200x1200 reflector/rini4x barlow/gutted 2x barlow for extender/k3ccd v.3/
crickey matty, you want a bit doncha!
guessing here... about 50% gain, zero gama, 50% brightness, full saturation, and exposure umm... somewhere.. cant remember. 10fps i think.
just downloaded neat image... gunna have another go at processing my avis soon :)
Yep.
Info is good. Helps us to give more valuable (constructive) feedback;)

I like it David.
Your getting betterer and betterer at this.
And the exp???
1/25th sec, 1/33 etc?
I'd repeat what I said before.
Stack more frames and process a little softer:):)
There ya go.
You don't half want a bit, doncha!!!!:rofl::rofl:
nah matty, just playing wiv ya!
heres the same images reprocessed and put thru neat image (thanks Stephen M)

wow:eyepop:,
that's verry perty :D
hopefully, i'll get sum images like that when my 5x powermate arrives :)
Good job ving!, very nice pix:thumbsup:
I noticed the comments over on SCP about those lines:whistle:
yeah i know... i dont get the line tho... go figure. i only see the lines when i look at the thumbnail...
anyone got any clues?
what, this? ymm... its on my heq5. and pluged into my laptop. thats about it.
i just tried less wavelettes and the lines didnt show. once again tho over 7 different monitors i only saw lines in the thumbnail... go figure:screwy:
There are no overhead powerlines or electric cables near your set-up?
You haven't got any other electrical devices near your toucam?
Other than that, I'm out of ideas, sorry.
i think it was my wavelettes. i had too much going. heres one with less wavies and 2 alignment points (just for fun)
Looking better, mate:thumbsup:

hard call--can we have something with the best of both?
seriously though I wonder if its just wavelets causing those lines or something else..it almost looks like a FITS image which hasn't been converted to RGB..but of course that cant be the case here
very strange
but nice shot anyway
the first one is about as far as i can go without getting lines. hmm... i dont know. there is quite obviously more detail in the one with lines tho...
Do you remember how many frames you stacked for the second image with the hard wavelets?
You'll need more frames to push the wavelets harder.
Try for somewhere between 300 and 400 frames if you're pushing the wavelets quite hard.
i think it may have been up near 700 frames matty... its not a lack of frames :)
maybe i need less frames? each has about the same amount of frames tho.
the second one i had the waves of the top middle and bottom sliders push halfwayish. the first about 1/5 to 1/4

yup 5x powermates rule!
well done dave, these are really pleasing..........it has been a long wait for you to take the plunge and you must be very pleased!
yayayayayay:thumbsup:
Then I'm pretty sure it's something you're doing in Registax but without knowing the exact details of your processing routine I can't offer any further suggestions.
Good luck:thumbsup:
thanks, got some more avis last night. the quality of these looks better
got some moonage too
