Hi All

Wondering if someone can assist
I want to capture an image of the Dragonfish Nebula in the Crux constellation as it looks really cool from the images I've seen.

One problem, it doesn't have a NGC number or any other that I can find. This is a bit of a pain, I could visually find it but thats a bit of stuffing around. Tried typing in the name to stellarium but it doesn't recognise it & I'm sure without a code, Asiair won't be able to find & centre it either.

Any ideas would be welcome, short of finding another target ( Running Chicken is close by).

Cheers
Milsey.

Find image, send it to Astrometry and use plate solver to obtain coordinates.

BTW.. a bit of googling and the result is here:

Celestial co-ordinates as follows:

RA:12h 11m 27.5s
DEC: −62° 55′ 10″

You should be able to enter those co-ords & 'goto' once entered.. might then just need a little tweaking to centre it...

I note that everything I read on this nebula is that all the images that exist are taken using Infra Red... I understand it is not visible in the normal light spectrum...

So, you may need an IR capable camera to capture it...

Thx Guys. Much appreciated and always deliver.
Monochrome camera and IR Pass filter is the idea..

Could be married to RGB images as well I guess ? Who knows what I will get ? Finding it first using the below and see what we get..
