Omega Centauri

It's great to be back imaging again. After many years of exile, my life an commitments have come back around and I'm getting back. Mainly testing out a portable setup here's Omega Centauri.

Captured on the evening of April 30, from my backyard using an Orion ED80 scope on a Celestron AVX mount, guided using Staraid Revolution. Pentax K1-II camera at prime focus, combination of 97 exposures of 30 seconds each, processed using Astrosurface, Lightroom and Photoshop.

Now, to build the observatory and get out the proper imaging equipment!

Sounds promising regarding your shift in commitments, hope you get to utilise the change to the full :prey: :thumbsup:....things have changed in the image processing World though, namely (if you aren't already aware) Blur, Star and Noise Exterminator by R. Croman :eyepop:...kind'a changed the face of imaging really...

Hi Mike,

It's good to be back imaging in some way shape or form. The solar stuff is fun as well. Checked out the software you mentioned, all seems to work with Pixinsight. Looks like it makes things easier, which will save time.

Just wondering what I would be left with after star and noise exterminator on this image though!

Looking forward to getting some data to try the software out on! I assume that quality data is still required.

I was going to discuss the current plan, but I'll push that over to another forum for you to comment on as this one's for images.

Welcome back to the fold. :thumbsup: I'm totally with you on the "I want an observatory". I just need to find the $$$ and a piece of land...

A good image of Omega Centauri, too - lots of stars there to look at.

As a heretic, I'll say that you don't need all the fancy software such as the 'Xterminators" to make good images.

Great to see you back Stuart. I am glad things are lining up to get back into it.

I myself have not imaged much in the last year with constant cloudy weather and a move. I have started building a new observatory and expanding my dark site one as well. So I know the feeling.
