Hi all,

Since I am in the process fo upgrading my equipment with a Skywatcher 12" f4 newtonian and a JTW Astronomy P75 Trident Mount all to go into a new Observatory I am building under my Bortle 2 skies, I am going to be moving some scopes around.

I have an ED80 refractor (Brand unknown) I am going to be putting back into my small observatory so I can get a wider field of view than my current 8" f4 Newt. The reducer/flattner that came with the scope was a home made job by Bert (Aardvark), and it did a great job but it has a EOS camera adapter on it, which I cannot remove. Would the following field flattners/reducers from Bintel work on an ED80 telescope do you think? I would like to get as close to the 457mm focal length I have with the current reducer. Is there another option I am unaware of?

I'm using an SVBony x0.8 reducer on my 102mm and it does a very good job with flat, round stars right to the corners. They do a version for 80mm refractors that you can get direct from their store on Amazon for $130.

I have a .85 reducer for the skywatcher/orion ed80 even though it says ed72 the reducers are identical and since I don't have the ed72 adapter it is ready to be screwd onto the ed80 scope $400 and it's yours

Founder Optics makes a 0.8x one too:

Actually looks very similar to the Orion you ahem linked, but looks like better value.

Never heard of proastroz or Founder Optics, have you delt with them before?

Yes, I have dealt with proastroz before, got a mount (ioptron) and a scope (William Optics) from them, found them really good: they had stock, shipped quick and answered my questions.

I have been considering founder optics for my next scope, hence why I have come across this product. Have not pulled the trigger on that yet though!

Ok thanks for that, I will email them and check it out.
