Here is a pretty average pic of NGC 4945 and surrounding area. 25 frames @ ISO400 each 100s, bias, darks and flats applied. I think I may have induced some unwanted noise as I forgot to take the flats when the camera was still attached so its orientation may be off slightly..unguided. I think atmospheric seeing had a lot to do with the average images I was getting, as we had storms later that night and the air was pretty unstable. Some shots may have had cloud in them too. I did however manage to pull in a few 15th mag galaxies around 4945 which is good. I would like to try a longer exposure of this object as I feel it has alot more to show us. Pic is 80% cropped due to stacking rubbish on edges. Taken with a canon 400D and Berts 80mm ED refractor @ 450mm FL.

Cooool. One of my favourite Galaxies
You have done a great job of imaging a wider field of 4945, Andrew. Top stuff :)

I like these widefields, nice job.
It seems to be distinctly lacking in colour though - any reason why?

When I saturated it, it looked a pale pink in colour. I know this galaxy seems to chew up the blue as I have read in some write-ups on it. So I knocked it back so it wasn't quite as strong in colour. I also only did 100second exposures with very poor seeing conditions. I will try again when conditions get better, I will also autoguide on it and do longer exposures..

Good widefield Andrew!, longer subs and some good seeing will bring out more detail for you..same up here, still bad seeing with this jetstream.

Maybe it IS pink. My close-up of it came out Yellow/Brown.
I have no idea what colour it really is
