Has anyone got any better Finder charts for Vesta??
Has anyone spotted it with the Naked Eye yet??
Cheers!

Spotted it with the naked eye Fri 11 May around 23:00 right between eta and zeta Oph, using Cartes du Ciel, which listed it as mag 5.8 at the time. Seemed a bit brighter than that to me though - sky was not that dark and seeing lousy, so little added value in the 80mm scope...

I've been watching it, on the very occasional times we have a break in the clouds! Just on naked-eye now, in dark sky. I've been using Starry Night, but Sky Tonight have a good serviceable finder chart at:

Worth watching, as it will be at opposition on 30 May, at its brightest since 1989 (mag 5.4). Astroman says that 12.5 magnitude Concordia is right near Vesta too (just over 1 degree away ATM).
