Hi all,

Here's one of my latest images - Messier 20, the Trifid Nebula.

It is a 62 min. exposure (25 x 150 sec. sub-frames) @ ISO400.

Higher Resolution Image: http://www.skylab.com.au/pmsa/ngc6618b.html

The image was taken with my observatory mounted 12-inch f/5 GSO Newtonian telescope on a Losmandy Gemini G-11 equatorial mount. Autoguided with SBIG 402 on 4.5-inch f/9 guidescope with 1.6x Barlow using CCDSoft. Camera Canon EOS 300D Digital ( Hα enabled ) focused with DSLR Focus. Used a 2" Baader Multi-Purpose Coma Corrector (MPCC) and a 2" Baader UV/IR Rejection Filter.
Image Processing Iris, Photoshop, Noiseware.

Clear Skies!

Hello everyone,

Thanks very much for posting your rewarding comments, I'm glad you all liked the Trifid nebula image.

I was quite pleased that I got the turquoise color in the blue part of the nebula (left of the red nebula).

ICEMAN: thanks - I'd be doing a lot more if the weather, family and work would give me more opportunity.

BALLARAT DRAGONS: that's exactly the reason I like astrophotography - it can show us what's really out there...

SHEENY: hey Al, nice to hear from you !

BASSNUT: I quite like your 12" on G-11, expect an email from me!

EVERYONE ELSE: thanks !
