Late sun images today 28 March 2023

So much for sunny Australia. It is now exactly 2 months since we last had a proper solar session with clear skies and no interruptions. Today didn't disappoint in continuing our run of ordinary solar imaging. It was forecast to rain late this afternoon, instead there was a small break in the clouds. We deliberated whether it would last long enough to grab an image or two but decided to try. It was only just. We grabbed a couple of videos between clouds with seeing averaging no better than 3 arc seconds.
First a two panel mosaic in Ha and then a full disk in 393nm.

Very nice set of images again guys, you're still probably getting more sun than I am, kinda explains why I'm not posting much this year.

Yes, we shouldn't really complain compared to the weather that NSW & Qld have copped for the last 12 months. We've mainly had a lot of cloud and even when it does clear the seeing, day or night, has been ordinary.

We've almost filled a "new" water tank only commissioned in February....
Still piddling....


Your CaK shot is very impressive. It shows clearly the active zones in the north and south.

Isn't that the long white cloud?
It's interesting, we saw a post from a solar imager in LA who hasn't been able to take any images for months due to rain and cloud. He commented that "it's like the world has changed". Feels a bit that way lately.
