Eta Carina SHO

Been a long time since I've really been playing with a mono camera but I'm finally started to get back into the swing of it. Been playing with the new BeamTech of late, spent a bit of time initially using a OSC with it but now that the QHY600 is up and running (baring some minor tilt) it's time to get crackin'!

Eta Carina is my first SHO attempt so far that I haven't either had miscollimation or some pretty terrible seeing. Admittedly, the SII data isn't great but as it doesn't really add detail it's not as important in that respect.

I've made a couple of attempt with this one so far just playing around with colour palettes. Not sure if this will be my final colour palette thought. My previous renditions have had a stronger Ha component making the OIII regions less of a deep electric blue but I kinda like this one for that reason. I'll have to sit down at some stage and compare colour palettes against Hubble and ESO and see if matching those makes a more "pleasing" colour rendition.

Oooooh look, steroids...bah, botoxed images like that are a dime a dozen now ...its the slightly blurrier au naturel versions that are all the rage I'm afraid :D

That is very sharp Colin.
look at the detail in the "finger of God" and the "Misty Mountain" jets.
Wish you'd post with stars though.

What telescope are you using?
Is it the Takahashi Mewlon 180C or the BeamTech you mention
which would be a CDK250 ?

Is that taken from Melbourne? -
I haven't seen any nights clear enough to setup for ages.

I did run some deconvolution on a synthetic luminance (combined SHO) which combined to 1.62” FWHM. There are some pretty interesting rings around the brighter stars. A single bright ring is a reflection off of the cover slip on the QHY600.
The repeating ring pattern around Eta Carina has been identified, not as the airy disk per say but a oscillating pattern caused by the airy disk that only really shows itself in narrowband filters under good seeing.
There has been some very long and heavy discussions on it over on the other unmentionable forum :lol:

Thanks Allan. There are SOME stars :wink: I’m still playing with reinserting the stars without ruining them and other things at the moment. Tried a few techniques but I’m also trying to preserve the homunculus a bit.

This was taken with the BeamTech over a month ago, the last time we had clear skies :lol:
Was taken from my Melbourne suburban backyard. I have learned that if there is no dew then the seeing is most likely terrible and not worth the effort.

It’s a 10” F/5.8 CDK built by our very own Stefan Buda. Apart from the ZWO EAF I believe that everything else is made in house; short of melting the glass for the mirrors and lens’ :lol:
