Image resizer software (free)

I've seen mention of limits of image sizes within the forum classifieds and often had issues myself emailing images taken with a full frame Nikon digital (D810).
Quite some time back I came across a free solution, moo0 image resizer and I've been using it for everything, including reducing the size of images to upload to various forums. It reduces and enlarges images and is simple to use and best of all, it's free.



I have no affiliation with this software I just find it exceptionally easy to use with a drop box for files (drag and drop).
One note, it exports the images on completion to the same folder they came from and in the case of SD cards if there's insufficient space or it's been locked the program just closes and leaves me scratching my head till I figure out the problem.


As per any free software I suggest running a virus scan after downloading the software, I do it with everything as a precaution but my version is clean:

Hopefully this will simplify reducing image sizes (file sizes) for some members.

I use the stock windows photos app for this...it is also free, and no risk of viruses etc. Mind you - its pretty much useless for anything else.

Moo0 may also be useless for anything besides resizing images.
I don't know how to use a Windows image thing for this purpose, I know how to use Photoshop and other image processing software for the purpose but Moo0 is so much simpler. It does one thing and does it well, and fast.
As for viruses, I scan absolutely everything, certified by Windows or not.


Oh, I use Win 7, I don't have any apps, that's probably why I'm not familiar with using it.

I use IrfanView, also free. I've used it for years, it can do more than just re-sizing.

If your using a windows pc, and have upgraded to Windows 11, there is a very useful application call windows powertools. It has a variety of different tools within it for many different uses, but one of the best tools, is the resize tool. When you have an image file within your filing system, you just right click, and then select resize images. It gives a very easy system of image file size change. You can create copies, it has defaults for different sizes and things like that. I find it very used for iceinspace rather than opening photoshop and everything. All you need to do is select the image in files, resize and then you are done. No "third party" software needed. Powertools is a windows based software. Find it in the microsoft store.

For those of you with an Apple macOS machine, the 'Preview' program has limited editing capabilities. Under the 'Tools' menu there are 'Adjust Size' and 'Adjust Colour' entries.

There's also the provided 'Photos' program that seems to have a reasonable editing capability, too. (Haven't used it in years, so can't comment on what it's like now.)
