Selling a ZWO ASI1600MM-Pro. No issues at all with this mono cooled camera. Nothing has been replaced or repaired (has a slight scratch on the top cover) and comes with all its bits (case, new cables, and original adapters). As with all ZWO cooled cameras you need to have your own power lead for the cooling fan.

I am keen to make the jump to a mono camera. What is the reason for selling?

What filters do you recommend getting for the camera? My knowledge is quite limited.

Can you start only with LRGB and skip the narrowband filters? Is a mono camera affected by light pollution (bortle 7)?

Hi David,

My only reason for selling it is I upgraded to a ZWO ASI2600MM-Pro. The camera (I think) is still quite amazing: 4/3 sized sensor, 3.8 micron, 12 bit with very little amp glow (easily fixed with darks). The field of view on both the 8” f4 Newt and Esprit 100 is really well suited to most nebula but you should be able to work this out for your own gear with a CCD suitability calculator https://astronomy.tools/calculators/ccd_suitability

Filter size will depend on the speed of your scope. I got away with 1.25” filters but the slight vignetting made my flat frame correction a little messy. Better to go with 31mm or 36mm I think. LRGB is a great start and add Ha when it suits, then OIII, then SII. I’ve certainly found LRGB to be very successful in light pollution and (oddly) easier for me to get better results than with a one shot colour camera. The big bonus is, of course, that you can use narrowband which really makes a lot of difference in the amount of detail you can capture. Hope that helps :-)
