I have been approached to put together a memory stick of Astro photos that can go in the wall projector in radiology...
Unfortunately I am still getting my images up to scratch so I thought what I could do is raise the matter here and see if we can get someone who could put images on a stick, and ask for folk to send in their efforts for display to the patients who really could use a little perspective as to how small their problems are in the big picture.
Nothing better than Astro..I show folk my photos and what always surprises me it often a first for them...
AND they love them as they had no idea.
Now is the time for volunteers...if any.. we can get started...so at this point who will get involved and for thinkers what are the issues to cover...my initial thought it would be good to have a foot note on each image with details of the object that help folk somehow know what it is and how far away...a name maybe of the object..the distance..not much ..and maybe someone or everybody can do a photo showing a rig the bits and a simply run down...now ordinarily I would do this but first I sortta cant and more importantly it would be a great opportunity for folk to show their work and help folk who have little hope left.
I hope some folk can take over the reins and make it happen.
Alex
That would be a great idea Alex, I know how much people who don't know much about Astronomy are in awe at some of the images that come their way. :)
I will see if I can help out.
You will probably end up with lots of double up's though

Thanks Leon.
I cant do more than what I have done so someone or someones need to do the work of putting the stuff together...the purpose of this thread is hopefuly have folk discuss how it will be done...suggest drop boxes etc...All I can really do is provide the name and address of where to send it.

What I am hoping is someone (s) will come forward and state how the thing must be done...now ordinarily that is what I do but surely I am not the only person here who can organise a chook raffle..there are various roll to identify and fill if it is to happen..
AND the most exciting thing is ..there are more than just one wall projector around the place I expect...hospitals etc...and maybe even Supermarkets...it is a small idea but could get very big very quick and take astro photography to so many people...set up with many outlets it could even be used to advertise and generate revenue...and it all can be done right here with very little effort...
The reason I suggested it was I expected there would be folk who would enjoy the experience...surely there will be folk who can put together a photo and short text and someone who can call the shots as to drop box and format etc
The big part " the idea" has been done and thats always the hardest part.

OK no takers...I will tell them tomorrow.
Alex
Alex, you need to give it a bit more time, before you cann it.
I like most people can load a heap of Photos on a USB and stick it in a TV and away it goes, but getting these photos all together from other members might take a little more time.
It is obvious that you want as many a possible images all in the one place, I understand and also obvious the format is JPEG's
But I don't know much about drop boxes, so as I am happy to contribute images I cant organise the project but would be happy to help in an other from if there is such a thing.

If I had something worth sharing, I'd be happy to, but I'm still very much in the kindergarten stage of imaging at the moment. No, make that pre-school. Any images I might have provided would only be suitable for comic relief!

Hi Alex,
I think that's a great idea. I am happy to offer a few images for this.
Cheers,
V
It seems Alex has gone quiet on his proposal, the idea is great but unless someone with Computer knowledge and knows about Drop Boxes  it isn't going to work.
I am happy as most would to contribute images, we need a leader, :):) ya know a Drop Box Person.;)

You don't even need a 'dropbox' to upload the images to. A healthy email account for people to send them to is enough.
If no-one else is wiling, I can set up either a shared folder where people can upload images to, or an email address to send them to.
Cheers,
V
Hi Alex
Been offline for a bit but happy to jump in with a few images. Anything that generates a smile during treatment would be worth it
Sounds like getting them to V would be the go?

OK, let me get something together (hopefully today, work permitting).
I will need an address to post the USB drive to.

OK, here goes nothing...
I have created a Google Drive Folder for you to upload your images to. I can't make it "write-only", so everyone with this link can upload, download, edit and delete stuff. It is not optimal but there's not a lot else I can do that's easy for people.
It said "sign-in required" when I created it, so you may need to be logged into your Google account before accessing the shared folder. If you don't have a Google account, message me and I will make alternative arrangements for you.
I will close the link on the last day of April and then move the images to a USB drive and post it to Alex (or whoever is the recipient). After the images are safely on the USB drive and ready for posting, I will delete the folder.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1aq6dokjy1w8oiM6rL5Xjv-oCKluU606Z?usp=sharing
Please use a filename of "TARGET_YOURNAME_DATE" when uploading, so I can properly sort and attribute the images. (Please note that I reserve the right to resize images to a reasonable size if they're huge.)
If you have any questions, or things don't work, message me and I'll do my best to find a solution.
Cheers,
V
Brilliant stuff, V

Steve you are the champion that I hoped would step forward and right from the start my money was on you.
I just know that you will get more out of this than you realise right now but it will be one of those things that help define you in later years...it is often hard to realise that you are the leader that a group needs...it is a quality to nurture and to help cultivate in others.
Thanks you very much.

I beg to differ. I'm only me, doing what I can.

Now don't you argue with me...I am right..always right!!! that is my best quality apart from my humility..
Doing what you can it the mark of leader right there...have a great day and thanks again and again and again.

I am thinking ..maybe a sticky explaing the project in each of the photo sections here...
Maybe someone else can jump in and help...draft the note..ask if it could go in each of the group's...

Hi all,
I've checked the folder and some generous souls have already uploaded examples of their work. I've looked at them, and they are beautiful.
Thank you, very much.
