CEM26 with 150mm/6" Newt

Hey Guys, does anyone use a cem26 with a 6" newtonian or know how it might perform. I'm looking at a carbon fibre f4 version which is about 4.5kg without accessories. I have seen it work on paper but I'm unsure with the winds we get in Australia and specifically WA/Perth for me. The alternative is that I need to look into larger options such as the cem40 which is out of stock everywhere and is more than id ideally like to spend.

A follow on from this is just if anyone can share their experiences using a newt in perth/western australia with all the wind we get.

I have been using all kinds of scopes and mounts in various parts of W.A.
for nearly 50yrs, including 6, 8.5, 10, and 16" Newts on various mounts.
The cem 26 is quite capable of handling a steel 6" f/6 Newt, let alone a carbon fibre one. A larger mount will not eradicate the wind problem, but will reduce
it somewhat if it is a lot larger. Newts are wind magnets, so preventing your
images being ruined by elongated stars demands other courses of action.
Operate in the wind shadow of a high fence, or maybe a shed, or your house,
or if out in the field, a vehicle.
You could also quite easily and cheaply make a portable wind shield from a
couple of wooden or metal stakes and a large sheet of cloth or plastic.

We get pretty strong winds on the south east coast of NSW too
I use Newts , 6” , 8” , 10 and 12”
I use Bunnings poly tarps to shield against wind and annoying neighbours flood lights , works really well
If winds are above 40 km/hr at low level then imaging or observing generally won’t be good anyway
My Obs down south does shield from winds higher than 40km/hr but again I generally don’t bother imaging in high winds

Thanks guys thats great to hear. I have a semi enclosed area at the moment with walls on 2 sides which are taller than the camera setup so that might be ok. Ill look into the bunnings tarp idea but Ill need it to be somewhat portable even if that just means some hooks to hang it up from something.
