took these tonight, since I cannot go out and play with astro goodies tonight. a mix of cameras and lenses, Pentax K10D and Canon 400D.
Great stuff, h0ughy.
Was out enjoying the eyeball view tonight. Was beautiful.
No telescope or binos required:thumbsup:
You've also captured Orion very nicely in that last pic.

Very nice photo’s. Like Matt, I too was outside eyeballing, but managed to drag out Narelle's spotting 'scope and we both looked at a most beautiful, slender, crescent Moon. Ahh, it was so romantic!
Cheers

almost brought a tear to the eye Dennis;) . My wife couldn't give two hoots. I was cleaning the BBQ down and realised I might have a photo opportunity, to which I have no western horizon to speak of. So I left everyone and the BBQ (not cooking BTW) and went two streets over from my place until I had a power line free western horizon:whistle: . You don't know how many strange looks you can get on a main road when you stop and set up a tripod and start taking pictures.......... :P
went straight back home in under 20 minutes and continued the BBQ

Very nice indeed Houghy!
The clouds parted earlier tonight for about half an hour and I got to see this great sight! It was fantastic, and the air was so clean and crisp which made it look even better!

Thanks Dave for moonage comment and the moral support. Yeah they probably had a wow of a time, looking through large aperture scopes, imaging, and the such. Feasting on photons until dawn.............no dew.........clear skies........allowed out to play, its just not fair!!

Well done Houghy, great shots!
I noticed this beautiful sight when I was closing my bedroom window. My wife couldn't give two hoots either (something a lot of us have in common I am sure).
I called my sister and told her to take her kids outside and look to the NW. At least someone in my family appreciated it too.
Can't wait to get some imaging equipment!!!!
Cheers.

Mate all you need is a DSLR and your on your way, now use that house mortgage and get some decent lenses;) My wife has not very much tolerance for astronomy - something to do with the fact that the very same day she gave birth to our daughter I bought a scope - funny similar thing happened when our son came to be:whistle: :screwy: :D It wouldn't matter if I got a Nobel prize for being a loony, I am and will always be a marked man:scared:

Houghy, new EPs won't cost much in the scheme of things but the divorce will!!!!
I have been really pleased with the 5000's but the 4000's that came with the secondhand ETX are pretty average and are generally not in use.
