For sale 12” (304mm) f8 GSO Ritchey-Chretien (RC) imaging telescope with carbon fibre truss tube in excellent condition. Mirrors and body components are in excellent condition. Standard GSO accessories include plastic mirror covers, heavy duty Crayford focuser, 12V mirror fan cable and 50mm finder bracket, plus 4 extension tubes for the rear focuser collar. Also includes Teleskop-Express 48mm GSO RC field flattener lens and Teleskop-Express primary baffle extension, and Astrozap OTA light shroud (adding about $600 or more in extras).
Selling because it is now surplus to my needs, having been replaced by a higher end imaging telescope. Has been stored in a dry dust free environment since. Due to weather and unrelated technical problems with my mount this telescope didn’t end up getting much use. As this OTA is quite heavy at 25 kilograms and has a long focal length of 2432mm you will need a large capacity high performance mount to carry it. The telescope holds focus and collimation well, and the carbon fibre truss results in very stable focus over temperature changes. These GSO RCs are excellent value for money and perform very well when set up correctly. They are a great way to get into long focal length deep sky imaging without spending 20-30K or more on an RC.
Price is firm at $2350 (these RC OTAs sell for nearly $5500 new from local suppliers). Original oversize packing box & foam inserts is available, but note that the huge box will add substantially to shipping costs. For this reason, pickup is advised.
