2nd image of the summer, thanks clouds!

Decided to reshoot this beaut nebula with the 2600 / 3nm filters. I shot it last year as my 2nd or 3rd ever mono image with the 294 / 7nm combo and dont think I really did it justice, so here we are!

Once again with the foraxx but with some fudgery with the level intensities before blending. I likes those yellows :)

Luminance is a blend of all three nb images; and rgb stars.

Close to 30hrs all up, full details here: https://www.astrobin.com/axv9kn/

Thanks for looking!

Hi Adam,
that's an absolutely top shelf image.
I don't know how you could improve it.
I like how the dark nebulas above the lady are so well defined.
There's no color noise, the stars are pinpoint
from corner to corner so the guiding and optics are perfect.
I enjoyed your gallery too.

Another gorgeous image. Technically excellent and aesthetically beautiful!

yeah that's lovely work there, Adam. Maybe the stars could be a touch smaller, but that's a personal preference. Nice job! Love all that background Ha that has come from your extended exposure time.

Thanks for noticing the darker nebula above the lady Allan! That was a lot of playing with funky looking curves - you know, the ones that look more like lightning bolts than S' :). Thankfully had a pretty good snr on the Ha channel that let me get away with it without it looking too washed out.

Thanks very much Rodney and Dave!

Gracias Adam! The stars were a tough call. Obvs the psf is larger with RGB stars and the sheer number of smaller red stars does obfuscate the nebula a little bit. I toyed with the idea of using the narrowband stars as the foraxx blending comes pretty close to matching 'real' star colours on the larger and brighter stars, but you do still end up with the red dwarves looking a little blue-r than they should :)

I ended up turning blurxterminator up a couple of notches to pull the rgb stars back as far as I thought I could without introducing artifacts. I will definitely revisit using narrowband stars in future projects!

Have to say that looks mighty fine Adam, really crisp and smooth, I like the colour palette too, lovely .

Forgive me and this is not a criticism, I am just still struggling with the advent of AI trained sharpening, I'm finding myself second guessing every image that has used it, like it's on steroids. I need to see the same image without it to not feel hoodwinked or something  :nerd: hey, more my problem than yours  I know ...it's really strange. The roll over Cen A example/sales pitch, on Russ Cromans site kinda doesn't help with this feeling either, says it all really, ie run your image through this software and bingo we'll just change it a bit (maybe a lot?!), based on what we know of other high resolution astro images we have seen, so yours looks more like them/sharper..?...maybe it doesn't matter  I dunno.?. :help:

I agree Mike,
I gave the picture a glowing report but I didn't know that
BlurXTerminator had been used.
I said

But I don't know how powerful AI is?
If the stars had all been triangular shaped and
the stars in the corners all had comet tails on them is
BlurXTerminator powerful enough to fix all of that up so we'd never know?

cheers

Amongst other things, indeed it can (https://www.bing.com/videos/search?&q=blur+exterminator+pixinsight&docid=603533460202995470&mid=BFE3CDA14679B8C9C98EBFE3CDA1467 9B8C9C98E&view=detail&FORM=VDRVSR&ajaxhist=0), it's a pretty amazing jump in image processing...watching a few video tutorials now, need to edumacate myself more on this stuff :eyepop:

Mike
PS. the last few minutes of the above video seem to address the "reality" issue and more or less confirm it is a "learned" PSF deconvolution tool, pretty well...?

Hello lads, thanks for your comments! No, its not voodoo, its robotic process automation :) That interview you found is a great one - Russ is very transparent about how it all works. You might also like the interview he did with Adam Block back in December (https://youtu.be/bc91GAHrL2Q?t=2183). These, plus my own testing and Im quite satisfied this isnt topaz mk2. Here's a couple of raw subs though just to address that triangle stars question ;)

Thanks Adam,
you do have have very nice stars.
My comment was speaking in general and not necessarily related to your picture.
BlurXTerminator will always leave us all guessing now especially after seeing that video -
whenever we comment on a new image posted here or anywhere else.

Magnifico!!:eyepop: Love the colour , it's the full suite. I have a friend toying up with upgrading to the 3nm filters. This should settle it. ( me for now ... just OSC + Lp and lenhance) . I've seen "the Lady" in RGB and IMHO could hardly see her. so 29 hours !! You have reaped your reward. Bellisimo!!:)

Thanks Matt!

Thanks as well Wes! If you're in bortle 6 or higher, I can definitely recommend the 3nm! If you've got a faster scope than I do (f7), even better :)
