Only the second time out with thePST and double stack filter today and the first with the DMK. Here's to plenty more!

There are/were some very prominent ( :P ) prominences and flares on the limbs today as well as a small group of sunspots. Here is a layered image of one of the flares from the SW (?) limb.

Seeing  - not hot, but not atrocious
Transparency: some very high, very light wispy cloud. You could just, just see it coming and going across the screen.

250/1000 frames for the disk @ 30 fps and 150/500 frames for the flare at 15 fps. Stacked in Reg4, colourized in Images plus, layered and adusted in PS CS2

Still got lots to learn with this solar stuff, but I'm happy just to be getting out there.

Got a bit of work to do with the face on skills though. :P

This is the small group of spots with a few filaments wafting around the atmosphere.

Thanks folks. Here's to plenty more clear skies.

Actually I wouldn't mind cloudy skies, if only it would rain!

Wow, that's really nice! We have a local solar imager here that always adds a Earth size pic to show the true size of these flares. I'd imaging that that flare is about 4-5 earth widths in height. Perhaps more? Try & work it out. :)
Cheers

Amazing capture there Paul great technical skill.
Seeing that Earth is a similar size to Venus then yeah about 4X Venus for the flare maybe:D
