Well summer here has been and gone, for what it was worth. The weather continues to be a challenge. It's been 8 days since we were last able to grab any images. Yesterday was another case of only just managing to get a full disk two panel mosaic late in the day. The seeing was 3.1 arc seconds with a standard deviation of 0.8.

Thanks Peter and Clare. Can you explain the blue lines on your SSM graph? Is the seeing better the higher or lower the blue line?
Cheers, John W.

Hi John,
The blue line is the instantaneous value of the seeing in arc seconds. The lower the value the better. Many of the amazing solar images seen on the forums & in the French solar book are taken in sub 1 arc second seeing. You can definitely observe the difference if you are watching the preview image and the SSM graph at the same time. The yellow line is the average seeing. As long as there are at least some low periods you have a chance with lucky imaging.
