Hi all
Heres a total of 3 hours on NGC 5128 under skies that were dark for Newcastle, just after the rain cleared
18x10 mins ISO 200, with the 6 inch f3.6 Schmidt Newtonian, uv/ir filtered. MPCC coma corrector. Had to do a "Meridian flip" 1/2 way through and rotate those images to stack with the others. masked the image to keep central detail. Houghys cooled DSLR sensor temp 1 degree. I was after the outer halo area. This would be the deepest astro image Ive ever taken.

I totally agree with H0ughy here!
Thats awesome! ;)
Superb image Scott, wonderfully detailed. I think you may have captured another galaxy as well, it shows up in the top left hand corner of the large image above the blue star.

Lovely Scott... By the way, have you posted details on how you cooled your DSLR? That's the next thing on my todo list. I'd sure be keen to know how you did it.
I've been offline for awhile, so if there is already a thread for this, my apologies!
Cheers

Robby, the cooled camera is mine:whistle: , Scott is “testing” it for me:D . He loves it and I am finding it increasingly difficult to get it back  . Go to www.centralds.net to see the camera modifications. You can either send your own 400D or 350D to get done or purchase outright a 400D fully modded.
Wow, fantastic result Scott, stunning, absolutely stunning !
You must be very happy with your "new" camera.

Wow! :eyepop: A gorgeous image Scott - you don't often see images of 5128 this deep.
You did a great job maintaining the detail in the core too!

This is not a bad image Scott. I am afraid that those new dark lanes against the delicate glow of the galaxy will start a complete new ethos! Brings a whole new meaning to be COOL! Sure your nickname is not fonzy?
Not bad at all!
