I have been scared to shoot broadband from my inner melb backyard but with a few clear nights I thought I would through alot of integration time at the problem. My sensor has rotated between nights hence the gradients.

I also think I should have decreased the exposure time with the luminance filter. The S/N ratio was a bit high. Do others do that? Should my exposure with luminance be less than with my RGB filters?

L 3h40min
R 2h55min
G 2h15min
B 2h20min

QHY290m pro Gain 1600

Great shot Dilshan, amazing what you can still get under solid light pollution :eyepop:...has a nice subtle 3D look to it too, like the main arms are closer to us than the core

Thanks Dave. It is amazing to think that these photons left the galaxy around the time the Himalayas were forming. I used the SPCC tool in pixinsight for the first time with this project. Really helped with the colour.

Thank you. I was pleasantly surprised.

Thanks Mike. I think I will give some more broadband targets ago rather than be a narrowband guy. Now that you point it out one arm does look closer :).
