Yep, I did it! Horeshead with the Modded Toucam!!! :eyepop:

I took 10 images of Horsehead a few nights ago but couldn't see anything in them, so I didn't do anything with them. But tonight is foggy and I thought I'd stack and process them anyway.

Glad I did. Nice suprise waiting for me at the end of the process

Another go at it, this time I removed the Hot Pixels and cleaned the stars up in PhotoShop

I can't seem to get the Neb any better, but I should be happy with what I got, considering I thought there was nothing there in the first place

I'm happy! :)

Nice work Ken, though it's not surprising me what you can do with that little ToUcam!

fine effort ken. and surprising amount of fine detail on the HH, well done.must have been a huge processing effort

No, not much. Brightness down, Contrast up, and a tweak in Levels. Then later on I cleaned up the stars and cloned out the hot pixels and added some blur. I find that if I alter an image too much in processing, it looks fake or over-processed.

The trick is knowing when to stop processing

hmmmm, . . . now to add some diffraction spikes . . . hmmmm

What a coup Ken, lovely image of the Horsey. I'd stick a few feathers in your cap for that one.

Top stuff

Thanks everyone.

Yeah, I thought these cameras are rated at a level that shouldn't be able to do these types of shots

Oh well, I'll just keep pushing :)

Great Ken! Were they those images you and I looked at some weeks ago? I suspect not, you've done better with a new imaging session, it seems.

Same ones Eric.

I finally got around to processing them, even though we thought there was nothing in them. If you remember when you saw them, there wasn't much in them.

To show everyone here why we thought there is no data in them worth processing, here is one of the Raw images:

A comparison of Pre and Post Processing :eyepop:

Shows that it is worth processing almost anything

Well, that is amazing! But I remember that you did see the potential on the night! When in doubt - process! :)

I'm pushing, I'm pushing. :)

I've been pretty crook for the last 2 weeks with Migraines, but it's been cloudy so I haven't missed anything.

Gonna be fun when I finally step up to something better
