Setup the SW 120/1000 to visually check the current sunspots with the Baader wedge.
Plenty to look at!!
Seeing average due to heat haze and strong winds.

I thought it worthwhile to add the ASI 1600.
I've rotated the images to match the Latest SOHO and Raben maps.

Lots of fine detail in the penumbra - and in the umbra. The strong faculae due to magnetic activity is pretty obvious.

It's good to be back!!!

Thanks Ken - it was a rough atmosphere this morning. At least there are some nice spots to see. Cheers John W

John,
I had high hopes that moving from an elevation of 20mtr above the surf and only 500mtr or so behind the beach that Junortoun at 220mtr altitude would have been much better.
Time will tell.

Good captures Ken. Plenty of interest in those ARs. I'll be interesting to see if such a small increase in altitude has much effect and whether it is cancelled out by less temperature stability inland. So many variables in seeing. The OS imagers are talking about altitudes of 3000m +

I agree, but I was previously at only 20 mtr altitude above the Bay, now I’m ten times that height!!
So far so good, over the next few weeks I ‘ll be able to assess the improvements- if any.
