Took advantage of an unexpected bit of clear sky after midnight on Thursday. Setup the c14 + Hyperstar (asi2600mc) in preparation for some comet pics this weekend, and thought what the heck let’s aim it at something. Turned to NGC3372 and left the rig running while I went to bed. ASIAIR plan mode, 2x2 mosaic, 45min per panel. Processed in APP, GIMP & LR. Detail suffers after size reduction from 196mb to 200kb but not bad for a quickie!
Thanks for looking!

Really nice Dave! Lots of that fainter signal looks to have come through, not bad for only 45 mins per panel!

Lovely Carina wide field
Incredible detail from your Hyperstar
I agree not bad for a quickie , in fact very good indeed
Are you still using Gain 100 on the 2600MC ?
Cheers

It's images like this that remind us that RGB images of nebula we shoot in narrowband can be just as beautiful. Really nice work here, David!

Thanks guys much appreciated. I should also note I made a typo in original post it’s actually a 2x2, 4 frame mosaic (not 4x4 lol). ASIAIR has a genius mosaic tool that is quite literally set and forget. And APP eats mosaics for breakfast so I feel I’ve had a good boost from this technology.
Adam- thanks mate. Hyperstar goes deep and especially in bright targets like this there’s not much noise and plenty of signal to pull out in post. With so much signal you can really play with the data so much more
Martin- cheers yes it’s with the 2600mc at gain 100. I think that’s going to stay as my go-to setting except for the occasional need for the extra dynamic range.
Adam- thanks yes these narrow band filters on an osc are fantastic. In this case I was using the IDAS NBZ which is 12nm but my only option with the Hyperstar. If I had the budget I’d go for the preshifted antila 5nm but in the mean time I think it’s doing ok. For imaging at f7 I did some comparisons between the NBZ and an l-extreme and the l-extreme wins easy.
