Greetings all
Is there someone in the group who would be willing to put together a sharp cap deep sky tutorial for someone who does not have a great deal of automation attached to their scope. I have the manual, but would welcome a getting started approach.
Cheers

Hey
I don't really use sharpcap for deep sky imaging. I use it for polar alignment and thats it. A lot use sharpcap for planetary as it is good for taking the video/snapshots etc.
For deep sky a lot of people use N.I.N.A or in my case APT (Astrophotography Tool) which allows you to control your mount, plate solve images, adjust exposures and setup entire photo plans/session.

I just use Sharpcap for polar aligning and live imaging. There's a pile of tutorials out there, e.g.

I use Sharpcap for EAA, as it's pretty much the tool of choice. There are plenty of threads in the Cloudy Nights Forum dealing with Sharpcap. I did use the polar alignment feature once, when i was setting up my observatory, have not had to touch the alignment since ( in more than 6 years).

Try youtube as well for videos but as many said already sharpcap isnt widely used for deep sky

Well Sharpcap certainly is widely used in EAA, for deep sky objects. Traditional long sub imaging folks may dismiss Sharpcap, but for many of them will end up doing EAA with Sharpcap as it is a very efficient use of your astro time.

+1 with Glen. Sharpcap makes deep sky object live imaging / EAA really easy with it's stacking features.
It's also really good for simple imaging for later processing if you don't need much automation. And fairly intuitive to use. Just give it a go!!
Well that's my biased view anyway ...
