View Full Version here: : Scope takes the long way around

Recently I was doing a bit of visual observing using my Celestron 6SE. I had it pointed at NGC2506, but when I told it to go to M48 which was a very short distance away (see attached screenshot), it went the long way around instead of taking the shorter path. Might be worth noting that the two objects were quite close to the celestial equator, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Any reason why a telescope would do this sort of thing? Is it a problem, and if so how do I fix it?

It’s to prevent cord-wrap. There’s an option in the hc menu to turn this off if you’re using internal battery or a battery pack attached to the fork.
