First attempt at Orion

First go at Orion
Skywatcher Esprit 150 with .77 reducer
asi2600mc 180, 20 second exposures + Flats ,Darks, Dark Flats
Stacked in DSS and processed in Star Tools

Orion can be a very trick target to image, with the high contrast difference between the bright core and the darker nebulosity.

You've done very well to capture everything. Top marks!

Hi Peter, that’s a lovely image and the colours and saturation are excellent IMO; well done. I am however curious about the wide FOV you’ve captured in this image with your Esprit 150 … is the image a mosaic or is that the natural FOV provided with the reducer? Either way, the framing is very nice! Alex

Can I make a suggestion…..something I learnt early on from the wise dudes here - space isn’t really black, don’t be afraid to lighten the pic up a bit which in turn should bring out some extra detail.

Yes it is just the Skywatcher 0.77 reducer that i for the Esprit150
No filters.
Haven't even tried to play around with mosaic, still trying to get the basics first.
