Mistakes were made...camera orientation.

This is what happens when you are doing a mosaic and have a night between imaging sessions then forget to reorientate the camera before starting the second night.

The 2 panels on the left are the first night and were vertically aligned (see 2nd image). The other 2 panels should have been off the right of the first two, but the camera was rotated about 90° so a wasted session.

Hi Mark. Yes, definitely an oops and yes, we do live and learn ... lots. Nice images though and I look fwd to seeing your end result. How much overlap are you using between frames? It looks quite small but it could be just the way IIS has presented the image. For terrestrial panos using a DSLR I use about 30% overlap and sometimes more - up to 50%. It might be different for astroimagery, but I’d suggest having a reasonable size overlap to giving your integration software the best chance possible of aligning stars and smoothy blending the various frames. Sorry if this is telling you how to suck eggs.

Btw, I almost did something similar last night and if I’d been using Ekos, I probably would have never known until doing the integration (followed by some naughty words :lol:). However, the ASIAIR+ is smarter than me (not hard) and surprised me with a warning about differing sensor orientations between previous and current sessions … phew :-) Alex

Plenty of overlap Alex, 30% I think it was when I set it up. It looks less because ASTAP had real problems figuring out where the new panels should have gone & didn't get close.
