Ever since the macs had Andromeda as a desktop wall paper, I have wanted to catch this object.
I managed to capture this from Swan Reach with my DSLR. - Nikon D810 and Nikon 400mm @ F4. 250 mins total towards the end of November.
I was late to the game this year and captured this at about 8-11 degrees of altitude. It was an interesting capture.

That turned out really nice Jarrod. I like the focal length you chose on the full frame sensor. The wider view looks great and there's room and resolution to crop in closer if you want to. I would have liked 2hrs on it this year but the night I chose was late in the season and cloudy so I only managed just over 40mins. It too was at a similar altitude, so a difficult one to catch. Hats off to you for doing so well on this awesome galaxy.

Wow that’s a lovely shot. Excellent detail/colour for such a low target. Those dark skies must be amazing to shoot in!

A very nice, natural, balanced portrait, of this majestic neighbour, at any altitude

You'll capture it next year Jarrod. This is a pretty good stop gap though. Many would be very happy with this image.

What the others have already said - for a "stop-gap" image, that's damned good! Top stuff.
Cheers,
