Anyone got any ideas on what I can use as a riser? Was looking at these but at $65 it seems a little steep.

Hi Chrys
Depends on how much you want to raise the rings from the Vixen bar. If only 10 or 20 mm lift is needed then buy something like this ; - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225285214123?hash=item34740b8fab:g: yUAAAOSwJ~5b8I7g or https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224948658938?hash=item345ffc22fa:g: 7LkAAOSwzVxfGBn5
Then cut to the length you want and drill the holes in the appropriate places. Hope this helps.

Ha, I should have done what Jeff said, but I bought a couple sets of the PLL ones you linked to, Chrys. They're good! But yes, pricey for what they are.

Astronomy is one of those hobbies where you can pay a lot, a little or make something yourself.
As Jeff mentioned in his reply you can make these, it all depends on what outcome you want. Are you are handy enough, do you have the time and equipment to make them, if so then I would make them (I have access to workshop equipment).
But by the time you spend the 3 hours and have an ok product you sometimes wish you had purchased :P but if it comes up trumps then there is the self gratification of I made that
The price seems up there but you get a quality product, nice red that will not rust, beauty is in the eye of the wallet in this hobby. You do not get much for $65 these days, maybe a pack of smokes

Never thought of using a flat bar, good idea.
I am pretty handy and have the tools but it does come down more to time if anything. Usually in this hobby I don't mind paying to get an all-ready made solution but something like a riser block can easily be made.
Thanks!

Even this would do the job I think.

Or bolt (M10 for example..) and couple of nuts.. to get adjustable height that way.
