The Celestron focuser motor only fits selected versions of the Celestron SCT and doesn't have a handcontroller ....also VERY expensive.
The ol' JMI focus motor doesn't seem to be available locally and also to purchase new is currently VERY expensive.
In the past I've used a SkyWatcher focus motor belt driven to a Vegemite lid on the SCT focus knob. Not very elegant but worked well.
This time I've fitted a SW motor directly to the SCT focuser (knob removed) using the rubber stopper from a walking stick as a flexible joint. The focus knob is about 12.8mm diameter and the flexible joint which comes with the SW motor just over 13mm. The 1/2" stopper foot fits both!!
A small angle piece locates the SW motor.
Ten minutes work, an elegant and fully functional outcome for around $100.
Well done McGyver.
