Taken a few nights ago and tried some post processing that incorporated Astopixel processor, siril, pixinsight and photoshop.
The L-ultimate is an excellent filter that really pulls out the H alpha however since Orion is a complex emission and reflection nebula I need to shoot a sequence with just the UV ircut filter and then blend them together to get both the H-Aplha clouds and the blues of the running man and part of the Orion complex. Either way the filter, combined with the Askar 300 is a great combo wit the 294mc pro after drizzling then resampling.
5 hours of 10 and 600 second subs though I think the 294 doesnt like 10 sec subs

Not sure about the colours however

I'm not so sure about the colours, either, but THE DETAIL in the nebula! :eyepop:

Nice Nik.

Orion is definitely better as a broad band target. You’ve captured so much of the outer clouds. I’m not totally against the colour either. It’s a little different. My personal preference is to let the core be brighter and certainly if you’re imaging a wider field. I feel it just looks more natural. I know that’s not a common concensus though. Everyone wants to chase the trap. Just be careful, you’re slightly white clipped. A great effort. Well done

The center of this star has lost its colour and gone grey. I’ve done it quite a few times myself. It happens when you slightly clip the highlights end of the histogram and then if/when you pull back on the brightness the brightest part has lost its data and appears an off grey colour.

It's a great filter now to just add the broadband blend

Ah excellent. I have wondered in the past if that might have been the case during compression too. When I saw it on my own images though it was in the full size too. Good to know there are other things that cause it too :) Thanks for checking.

Cheers

A cracking image Nik, buttery smooth & lovely detail. I'm inclined to agree with Ryan about this being a broadband target & would love to see the result of that but this is vary well done in any case.

Best,
Tony

Great shot. Yes some rgb will add some colour balance (and stars) but I’ve found the nb actually gives a lot of texture and definition to the dusty surrounds. You’ve brought that out beautifully!

Cheers guys I may go one step further and add the Horsehead nebula in the mix, see how it will go, if I ever trim that tree that limits my view of the horsehead
