I just finished a small video for my YT channel called Astroworkz that I thought newcomers and intermediate imagers who want to get the best out of the ASI294 series (MC and MM) might find useful.

One of the challenges in a hobby that has such a huge range of interests is finding the information that fits your needs. And that is increasingly difficult in this data driven world where we try and find our way in this flood of information online. We know this feeling all too well and that’s why Tyler Bowman and I created this channel.

In today's video I review why some ASI294 owners encounter issues when processing data from this camera and gives you my top tips for success and walk you through a free to download processing workflow diagram.

If you are a newcomer struggling with the ASI294 or want to improve your image processing on this camera then this is for you.

There's a ton of stuff coming all aimed at beginners and intermediate imagers so do have a look as this might be a help to you. The sole aim of Astroworkz is to not forget the beginners in this sometimes technically challenging hobby!

Cheers

Simon

Thanks for posting the video Simon, hope it will be helpful as I recently bought an 294mc but haven't really had a chance to use it yet. The tips you give seem fairly straight forward so am looking forward to putting them into practice.

It is really :)

A lot of people seem to struggle though hence the video - I think the work flow helps people understand the use of dark calibration of flats too .. which is good for 183/1600/294 etc - ie anything with amp glow

Later camera's with later sensors like 2600 / 533 etc can still use bias safely and they behave ... the earlier sensors need different handling to get reliable results.

Hi Simon,
Great video and thanks for explaining the various areas of the process to be aware of. Looking forward to the next ones.

In the mean time, in ASIAIR’s histogram how best to tell if the ADU is at/near 28k recommended value? The histogram has the Min, Max, Avg and Std. Is any of the four the target for the ADU?

Thank you.
