HI, I am narrowing down my search for a telescope and am wondering how people feel about the quality, user experience and views of the 2 makes. Are they more or less the same ?
Is there a particular model that is superior to the others for general viewing of planets and some deep space with some amateur photo's too (and it will be amateur  )
Can they be connected to an ipad screen for viewing in real time with kids ?

Both Sky-Watcher and Celestron 127mm Maksutovs are made by the same company, also offered on go-to mounts. Only Sky-Watcher offers a 150mm.

Thank you for your reply :)
Is there a difference with the SW Red Tube Discovery and the SW black and white tubes ?

Are you seeing red tubes as used? In any event, both should be the same.

Hi Alan, I finally made the leap and bought the Skymak 127 on mini AZGti mount..... it was the one I kept going back to and was a good deal.
Just need to check if I remembered to order a moon filter ... as this was the only thing I really thought would need to be added until we get used to the scope and decide what we need from there
Thanks for the replies and I'm sure I will be back for more advise and sharing of the enjoyment once we get to use it. :thanx:

That's wonderful. You and yours will have a lot of fun with that one.

The Maksutov will play well with inexpensive eyepieces. I don't think you'll need a Moon filter with a 5" Maksutov, but if you've already ordered it it will be there just in case. I have a 5" Maksutov, too.
