Hi All. Last year I posted a thread asking if anyone had any firsthand experience with the Geoptik 12" Nidarus Kit but it didn't raise many comments. A year on, I am still wondering. There is little to nothing about it around the internet. I am wondering how it performs, common issues and longevity.

Got mine. Pretty darn good after some work.
Issues that I overcame.
Focuser. The GSO one I was using on my Skywatcher 12" dob didn't allow enough in-focus for some of my eyepieces. Had to replace with a low profile focuser. Had to order it from the UK as weirdly the cheapest option. Can get it from AUS retailers though.
Balance. With a Paracorr 2 and 100 degree eyepieces it becomes front heavy fast. Resolved with velcro and counterweights on the bottom of the rocker box.
Mirror Cell. Nothing wrong with it to say. But, its designed for a 300mm mirror - like a GSO one. My Skywatcher is 305mm. This means I had to take 2 of the 3 hard plastic mirror supports and grind them down some using a bench grinder in my case to fit my mirror.
Upper OTA. Paint was a bit glossy for my liking. I airbrushed Musou Black paint on it. Its darker then Black 2.0 and Black 3.0.
Rocker box. Unpainted on the inside. Rockerbox is shallow and rear is open - allows great cooling. Also stray light if you live in suburbia like me. Resolved by painting with Musou Black again.
Shroud. Its a bit short and allows stray light from the sides. Not an issue at a dark sky site. Resolved by using a strip of EVA75 to fill in gaps.
Ill throw up a few pictures tomorrow from when it was last setup.

Link below to pictures. Note: the Geoptik filter slide only fits that low profile focuser.
