Some more Lunacy

Hi All

With a few consecutive days of clear skies I managed to get some reasonable vids and therefore images of the moon but for some unknown conspiracy could not get similar results for Jupiter and Mars.
Could be because the lunar vids were with the 290mm and red filter and the planets were with the 290mc and uv/ir filter.

It's interesting to see the different shapes and sizes of the craters, and how some are deep and some are shallow, and the way they're all jumbled up on top of each other...

Nice set Jeff. A lovely variety on display there well done!
Sometimes local seeing can play havoc with imaging in a certain part of the sky, but Jupiter was pretty close to the moon so maybe it’s just that the extra contrast that the moon offers helped disguise the poorer seeing on the night.
I think the sky has been conspiring against us all lately

Thanks for the kind comments, what I find most fascinating is the ever changing play of light and shadow from 1 day to the next and so on.
As for the variability in the seeing, when Jupiter was only 10/15 deg from the moon that night, I can only put it down to Mono vs OSC, maybe. Or that the seeing changed in the time that I changed cameras and targets.
Has been a poor planet season for me from this location, mostly weather related of course, have been hoping to get at least one decent night on Mars, as the next 3 or 4 oppositions are not favourable for us in the southern hemisphere.

Lovely pictures with lots of detail. Encourages me to get back out to the C11 when weather and time permit.
