After an evening of hearing rain outside we were about to retire for the night when Clare noticed that the clouds had actually cleared quite a bit and both Mars and Jupiter were visible. We set up quickly and slewed to Jupiter only to find a horrid shimmering mess. The seeing was awful but we felt that with the long term weather outlook promising more clouds for months to come we shouldn't waste an opportunity. So we took a couple of videos of Jupiter and then slewed to Mars and took half an hour of videos. With some work we have managed to get this one image. In keeping with the nature of this planetary season, the Jupiter files have gone in the virtual bin.
We also did a WinJUPOS simulation to see if it correlated with our image.
