Imaged with an ED 80 on a CG5 autoguided mount with a modified Canon 300D and an Astronomik H alpha (13 nm) filter, here is IC 2944/2948

I imaged this object last Saturday( ie 5 May) from my backyard in light polluted Winston Hills-when there was plenty of moon around, but as Scott (tornado33) has shown H alpha filters can overcome bright moonlight and light pollution.

Only just processed...

I didn't get nearly as much exposure as I'd have hoped for-thanks to a lap top that crashed three or four times with resultant data loss so this is only 30 minutes worth at ISO 1600

comments and suggestions welcome.

I will try and combine with some colour data I combined last month by and by.

Very nice Narayan, nice and ghostly.

But I still fail to see any running chicken in this neb. I've never been able to see anything that even resembles a chicken.

Looks good, I too however can not resemble any part of that to a chicken or a bat... ;)

Just so I dont look completely silly, I might point out that mine and Louies
most recent posts were made at the same time.
Now just to hang up-side-down from the ceiling...

Oo, I think I see it! ;)

yes thats very impressive, I can clearly see the Thackarays Globules, dark spots in the nebula. Yes the H alpha filters are amazing for cutting through light pollution.

well I found some RGB data I had collected in March-6 x 400 seconds each at ISO 200 to add to the H alpha data and this is the outcome
